The mechanism

Photobiomodulation, explained

Photobiomodulation describes the absorption of specific wavelengths of light by cellular chromophores. Absorption supports adenosine triphosphate production and modulates downstream signalling, contributing to tissue repair, remodelling and regeneration.

Read the science

Red light at 630 nanometres reaches the upper dermis, supporting fibroblast activity. Near-infrared at 830 nanometres penetrates to the lower dermis and adjacent tissues. Blue light at 415 nanometres is absorbed by porphyrins associated with Cutibacterium acnes. Green light at 525 nanometres targets pigment irregularities.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a clinical-grade LED mask different from a consumer one?
Two things: published specification and recognised certification. A clinical-grade device tells you exactly what it does, at what irradiance, under which standards. PRO by Déesse PRO publishes every measure.
What does CE certification mean?
CE marking under the EU Medical Device Regulation indicates the device meets the regulation's safety, performance and quality requirements for its intended use. The class of certification reflects the level of risk. PRO by Déesse PRO holds CE certification under the applicable class.
Is Déesse PRO FDA cleared?
PRO by Déesse PRO holds CE certification under the EU Medical Device Regulation, the UK and EU equivalent of FDA clearance for devices of this class. The EOS-X professional system is separately FDA cleared.
What makes an LED mask medical grade?
A medical-grade LED mask is certified under a recognised medical-device regulation, manufactured under controlled conditions to ISO standards, and supported by clinical evidence for its claimed effects. PRO by Déesse PRO meets each of those conditions.
Are consumer LED masks effective?
Some are, many are not. The deciding factors: wavelength accuracy, irradiance, coverage area, consistency of use. Devices that publish their specifications and hold recognised certifications are the ones to trust. Déesse PRO publishes everything.
Where is Déesse PRO manufactured?
PRO by Déesse PRO is manufactured in South Korea under ISO 13485 conditions, with documented quality management across the production cycle. Korean precision engineering has long led the world in photobiomodulation hardware.
