Tackle hyperpigmentation with Green Light Therapy

Tackle hyperpigmentation with Green Light Therapy

What is Hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition characterized by the darkening or increased pigmentation of certain areas of the skin. It occurs when there is an excess production or accumulation of melanin, the pigment responsible for the color of the skin, hair, and eyes.

There are various factors that can contribute to hyperpigmentation, these include:

  1. Sun Exposure

  2. Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)

  3. Hormonal Changes

  4. Skin Trauma

Hyperpigmentation can occur in different forms, including:

  • Solar Lentigines: Also known as age spots or liver spots, these are small, dark spots that commonly appear on sun-exposed areas, such as the face, hands, and shoulders.

  • Melasma: Melasma causes larger, irregular patches of darkened skin, typically on the face, and is more common in women, particularly during pregnancy or with the use of hormonal contraceptives.

  • Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH): PIH can result in dark spots or patches that occur after inflammation or injury to the skin. It commonly affects individuals with darker skin tones.

Treating hyperpigmentation could not be easier with the Déesse PRO Light Therapy Mask.

Using our Green Light (mode 3), some of our patients have reported up to 30% reduction in pigmentation areas, with consistent use of the Déesse PRO.

Whilst studies on the benefits of green light are ongoing, there is significant research to show that green light can effectively break down the melanin clusters within the skin, with consistent use.

Treatment:

We recommend: Take 'before' photos of your skin in good light.

Treatment: Dependent on the severity of the pigmentation start with using the Déesse PRO for up to 15 mins, x2 per week with a consistent skincare routine. Continue this for 2-3 weeks.

After 2-3 weeks, review your results by taking an 'after' photo in similar positions and light to the your 'before' photo.

If your pigmentation has increased during this time, reduce the time to 10 mins, once per week OR stop using the Déesse PRO completely.

If you notice an improvement, continue to use your Déesse PRO for up to 6 weeks on this treatment mode.
