Post-Sun Skin: How to Use LED Light Therapy to Help It Recover

The Déesse PRO editorial team shares practical guidance on getting the most from professional LED light therapy at home.

A day in the sun does more to skin than a tan or a slight red tinge suggests. Underneath, UV exposure triggers inflammation and oxidative stress that skin needs real support to recover from — and LED light therapy is well suited to exactly that kind of repair work.

The PRO by Déesse PRO has two treatment modes built for this: Post Procedure and Calming. Here's when to use each.

Post Procedure: for the days right after sun exposure

The Post Procedure mode combines Near-Infrared (830nm) with Red (630nm) and Blue (415nm) light in a single session. Near-infrared penetrates deepest of the three, supporting cellular energy production and reducing inflammatory signalling — exactly what stressed, sun-exposed skin needs. Layered with red and blue light, the combination is designed to help skin appear calmer and more comfortable within a few sessions, rather than the weeks it takes for the more structural changes from red light alone to show.

Calming: for the redness and uneven tone that follows

Once the initial soreness settles, sun exposure often leaves behind visible redness and patchiness that lingers longer than the tan does. The Calming mode pairs Blue (415nm) with Green (520nm) light specifically to help skin look calmer and more even — useful for a few sessions once you're past the acute post-sun stage and want to even things back out.

Building this into the days after sun exposure

A practical approach: reach for Post Procedure mode for the first two or three sessions immediately after a day of heavy sun exposure, then shift to Calming mode for the following week if redness or unevenness persist. Both are gentle enough to use on skin that's already sensitised, and neither requires anything more than clean, dry skin and 10 to 20 minutes.

Give sun-stressed skin a job to do

LED therapy won't undo a sunburn, and it's not a substitute for SPF in the first place. But for the inflammation and unevenness that linger afterwards, the PRO's Post Procedure and Calming modes are built for exactly that kind of recovery.
